The Cross Keys is one of Knutsford's oldest Inns - however it's age is difficult to pinpoint.

The Cross Keys may well date date back to 1642, when a survey of the time recorded 42 taverns in Knutsford !

A map dating back to 1786, shows the Cross Keys as being part of Lord Egerton estate.

For many years the Barrow family ran the Inn - the 1841 census shows 30 year old Hanna Barrow as Innkeeper, assisted by her sisters Jane, 23 and Anne aged 20.
